ARJER CAVE

ARJER CAVE | BEARS' CAVE

One of the hidden places of Armenia, Arjer Cave, is located 4 km from Arpi village in Vayots Dzor region. The cave is one of the most beautiful. It is 3.5 km long.

The cave was discovered by hunters in 1978. Bones of a bear were found in one of the many rooms of the cave. It is said that the bear got lost after entering the cave and could not find the exit. It was the bones of the bear that gave it the name Bear Cave. The cave has dozens of large and small niches. There are hard-to-pass sections, through which one can only pass creeping. It is very easy to get lost, that is why you should go to the cave only accompanied by a guide familiar to the cave. The cave is completely covered with stalactites. The underground world is fascinating with its beauty, but it can only be seen as far as the light of your flashlight allows.

Arjer Cave is under state control. You can visit there only after obtaining the appropriate permission.
