Yerevan to Iran
The ArmLand club, after a successful climb to the top of Iran – Damavand, decided to organize a climb to Mount Sabalan, which is the second highest mountain in the Armenian Plateau and the second highest volcano in Iran.
Day 1. Yerevan – Tabriz
At 19:00 we will leave Yerevan for Iran. In Norduz we will be met by a local guide, and together we will go to Tabriz. If we have free time, we will go to Lake Urmia and have lunch on the way. Let’s take a walk around Tabriz in the evening. Overnight in Tabriz.
Day 2. Tabriz – Shabil
After breakfast and a walk around Tabriz, we will go approximately (5 hours) to the village of Shabil (2600m). Overnight in a village guest house.
Day 3. Shabil – Sabalan Northeast Camp
After breakfast, we will begin our hike to the northeastern camp (6 hours) of Sabalan (3650m). After lunch we will ascend to an altitude of 4000 m for acclimatization. Overnight will be in a mountain camp.
Day 4. Climbing to the top of Mount Savalan – Sarein
On this day we will climb to the top of Sabalan 4811m.
We will begin the ascent at 5 a.m., after breakfast at the camp․ The ascent will last approximately 5 hours. Having reached the top, we will spend some time there and admire the unique view opening from the top of the mountain. The lake, which is located on Mount Sabalan, is the highest lake in the Armenian Highlands. Then we will go down to the camp and from there, in 4WD vehicles, we will go to Shabil, and from Shabil to Sarein, where we will spend the night.
Day 5. Sarein – Yerevan
Sarein has more than 10 hot springs, making Sarein one of the favorite tourist attractions. We will spend some time in these springs to recover from the climb. After this, we will have dinner and try delicious Iranian cuisine, including al-dukh. In the evening we will cross the Iran-Armenia border through Norduz and finish our program in Yerevan.
