MOUNT ISKASAR
Ilkasar is considered another picturesque peak of Armenia. The etymology of the name is related to simulating the mountain as an ilik. Locals often call it Odzasar (arm. odz “օձ” – snake), probably because the mountain is full of snakes in hot weather. It is located in Ararat region, 2.5 km southeast of Narek village. The height of the mountain is 1462m, and the relative height is 400m.
There are ruins of an old castle on the top of Ilkasar. From the top of the mountain, opens a beautiful view of Mount Ararat, four-peaked Aragats, Mount Kotuts, as well as Yeranos, Geghama and Yerakhi mountain ranges.
ANGELS’ CANYON
Armenia is a country of wonderful canyons. One of them is Angels’ Camyon, which is also located in the Ararat region. The gorge is located 3.3 km from Dashtakar village in the Yerakh mountains. It differs from other gorges in Armenia due to its unique appearance. There is also a source of healing mineral water in the area of the gorge.
The route leading from Mount Ilkasar to Angels’ Canyon is about 10 km long and passes through the Yerakh mountains.
