THE STATE MARKS OF ARTSAKH

The basic symbol of the independent statehood of Artsakh is the flag of Artsakh. The state flag of the Republic of Artsakh was adopted by the decision of the Supreme Council of the Republic on June 2, 1992. The flag of the Republic of Artsakh is tricolor, with red, blue, and orange horizontal equal stripes from top to bottom, with a five-tooth scale-like ornament of white color starting from both ends of the right side and joining in the third part of the flag. The ornament symbolizes the separation of Artsakh from mother Armenia and the reunification with the declaration of independence.

The red colour symbolizes the constant struggle of the Armenian people for survival, Christian faith, independence and freedom.

The blue color symbolizes the will of the Armenian people to live under a peaceful sky.

The orange colour symbolizes the creative talent and hard work of the Armenian people.

The state armor is considered a symbol of the state sovereignty of the Republic of Artsakh and the unity of the people living in its territory. The author of the armor is Lavrent Ghalayan. It was adopted in 1992. on November 17, by the supreme council of the republic. The armor is an eagle with outstretched wings, the rays of the sun are spread above its head, and on the eagle’s head is the crown of the Artashes dynasty, which symbolizes eternity, the crown is permanent, the bearers are the generations, transient. It is connected with the city of Tigranakert built by Tigran the Second in the territory of Artsakh. The eagle symbolizes strength and invincibility.

The national anthem is the symbol of the independent statehood of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. it was adopted on November 17, 1992 by the decision of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Artsakh. The author of the words of the national anthem of Artsakh is Vardan Hakobyan, and the author of the music is Armen Nasibyan.
