Hell’s Canyon (Aratso Canyon) is considered one of the wonders of Ararat region. It is very high cave-filled rocks on both sides, through which the Aratso River flows. It is located near the border of Nakhichevan. The depth of the gorge is 100-400 m, and the width is 1.5-80 m.

The hike starts from Tigranashen village. The gorge is perhaps one of the most beautiful. Whoever has been to Hell’s Canyon once, the impressions will remain in their memory for a long time. The trail, which seems ordinary at the beginning, gradually begins to amaze.

Although you are not that far from the city, it seems that you are in another world, in a place far from civilization, where there is no one but you and your group members. A little more and it seems that the rocks will collide with each other. But the road continues. The amazing semi-reddish shades of Lerk rocks double the impressions received from the hike. There are difficult sections in the gorge. Hell’s Canyon is included in the route of Mt. Tezhkar ascent.

The gorge is very suitable for rock climbing, as it is surrounded on both sides by vertical flat rocks of different difficulty categories. There are also rope jumps from a height of 65 m.
